As we can see microsoft wants to get popular as much as gmail is. So they created similar mail sistem that gmail has. I dont think so it will be such popular as gmail. Nowadays everybody has the gmail for now, so there is no need to get new mail. They wrote 12 things which hotmail has, and one which says “And more” and when you click it there is nothing more I dont know, I will stick to the gmail. And second day of use of IE7 is ended. I am still impressed with IE7, but i think i wont be long animore. Things I liked yesterday betraied me.

If i start with tabs.. They are very anoying if you have opened about 10 tabs. You hardly find what you want. Good, here is Quick Tabs, but it still takes time to load so not as useful as it looked at the beginning. Now I understand why FF has smaller and simpler tabs. I dont know why, but almost all pages has errors. “Done, but with errors on page (tudi sedaj). Look at the picture.

I still like ZOOM effect and it is only + point which stayed.

I noticed than when i do the refresh (f5) almost all forms loose their data. That’s not very handy if you’re in a hurry. Sometimes I get very high use of sys memory too.

Ponoven dan prijetne uporabe IE7. Še vedno sem navdušen na IE7, vendar me navdušenje počasi mineva. Ni vse tako super kot sem napisal včeraj.

Recimo če začnem pri tabih… Zelo nerodno postane, ko imaš odprtih naprimer več kot 10 tabov. Se težko razbere kje je kaj. Dobro malo pomaga Quick Tabs, ampak še vedno to ni to. Zdaj vem zakaj ima FF manjše tabe. Ne vem zakaj, ampak skoraj pri vseh straneh mi spodaj kaže “Done, but with errors on page (tudi sedaj). Glej sliko 1.

Še vedno pa mi je zanimiv zoom efekt, ki je ostal sedaj kot edina + točka.

Moti me tudi včasih, da ko osvežim stran (refresh, f5), mi pobriše celotne obrazce. Skrajno nepotrebno. Opazil sem pa tudi da če imaš odprtih več tabov postane zadeva požrešna s prostorom.
Za danes je to vse o uporabi IE7.

I’m home again. And ufcorse I’m using IE 7 for the whole evening. I must confess. I like it. I really like it.

1. I like the whole interface. There are not a lot of menus, which like FF takes a lot of space. You have only the important ones. Here I give the point for IE.
2. Tabs are great. They are bigger than in FF, and graphically more complex. I like the way to close tabs, which have x on every tab, when the tab is active. Bon Echo has similar sistem, but I like this one more. You can open new tabs by clicking on the empty one. In the tab line you can see so called Quick tabs, which shows all opened tabs whith screenshots of pages. Another point for IE.
3. Weird fonts. After installation I noticed that fonts are too big, and they looks like they are not the original one. I didn’t find a way to fix that. This point goes to FF.
4. Zoom. IE7 has the greatest zoom efect I ever seen in any browser. We can zoom/zoom out with pressing s ctrl+/- or with menu which is at the right corner in the status bar. Firefox don’t have zoom effect. There is weird “zoom” effect, but it only creates fonts bigger. We cant say that this is really a zoom effect. FF has plugins, but none of them cant zoom the whole page (pictures, fonts, etc.) that page looks weird - tables broke and page is looking really lame. Point for IE.
5. No plugins. Point for FF.
6. Built-in anti-phising and pop-up blocker. I tested both and it looks to be fully functional and reliable. You have plugins in Firefox which have this protection, but settings are better and as my opinion FF protection against phising and popups is better. I give point to both - FF & IE7
7. Beta version dont have Slovenian language. Point for FF.

To sum up, microsoft has done great job. I’m very impressed by the browser. As i wrote the only mistake for now which I can’t accept are fonts. Pages looks lame with it. If this can’t be fixed, I’ll stick to FF.

Both competitors got 4 point. After first day of use IE7… It’s very great so I think really all users schould test it, even if they are FF, Safari, Konqueror, or any other browser user.

Zdej sem spet doma in seveda… Že cel večer uporabljam IE in zelo nerad priznam, da mi je všeč. Kaj všeč. ZELO všeč.

1. Všeč mi je, da ni menijev, ki pri FF zasedejo kar veliko prostora. Tako pa imaš samo tiste res najnujnejše. Točka za IE.
2. Tabi so super. So nekoliko večji kot pri FF, malo bolj grafično dodelani. Všeč mi je tudi način zapiranja, ki ima na vsakem tabu x, in ko je ta aktiven ga lahko zapreš. Bon Echo sicer ima podoben način, vendar mi je tukaj bolj všeč. Tabe lahko odpiraš tudi z klikom na prazen tab, ki takoj odpre novega. Poleg tabov lahko tudi vidimo “Hitre tabe (Quick tabs), ki prikaže tudi predoglefe strani. Točka za IE.
3. Čudne pisave. Že pri inštalaciji sem opazil, da so fonti preveliki oziroma kot da ne bi bili pravi. Do sedaj nisem našel kako to odpraviti. Točka za FF.
4. Zoom. IE7 ima res najbolšji zoom efekt, ki sem ga kdaj pri kateremkoli brkljalniku videl. Lahko povečujemo/manjšamo s ctrl+/- ali pa preko menija ki se nahaja v statusni vrstici skrajno na desni. Firefox po defaultu nima zoom efekta. Oziroma je samo efekt, ki povečuje font. Temu ne moremo reči ZOOM efekt. Ima sicer plugine, ki zoomirajo stran, vendar se slike ne povečujejo ali pa se podrejo tabele in stran ni več lepa. Točka za IE.
5. Ni pluginov. Točka za FF.
6. Vgrajena anti-phising in pop-up blocker. Kolikor sem sprobaval pop-up blocker deluje odlično. Pri firefoxu imaš tudi plugine, ki pa so še bolj nastavljivi, tako da tukaj je točka za oba.
7. Beta nima slovenskega jezika. Točka za FF.

Torej, če povzamem, microsoftovci so naredili dobro delo in sem zelo impresioniran nad brskalnikom. Edino kot sem že napisal največja napaka najdena do sedaj je pisava. Edino ta stvar bi me zaenkrat lahko odvrnila do stalne uporabe.

Oba sta torej nabrala 4 točke. Vsekarkor po prvem dnevu povem… Internet Explorer je vreden, da ga poizkusi čimveč ljudi. In kot bi rekel eden naš znani profesor v srednji šoli: “Vse je stvar okusa” je rekla opica, ko je lizala drek.

Before I go to sleep today i will install Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3. Reason for installing it is that nobody can’t say… “You’re making fun of it, but you didn’t even tested it.” I am dissapointed on beginning. Beta version is not in my mother language which is Slovenian. There are few others too. The second thing i was dissapointed at is microsoft’s page which wants Geniune Validation before I can do the IE7 Beta3 download. Great this means I will go to sleep few minutes later

muBlinder sucesfully overriden microsoft Genuine. Or I am really Genuine Validated? Who knows? and … who cares .exe of the download file is about ~12MB. Download is slow, like microsoft’s pages all the time.

Installation is very tipical. At the beginning everything is unpacked and it looks like installing SP2, or a language pack, than you must accept license file. At the next step there isGenuine Validation AGAIN. At the full version will validation be everytime I’ll boot IE? Bad… After validating again installer asks us to confirm update. Yes it’s Microsoft Windows so it relly must be done. It’s interesting that every Windows version (SP1, SP2, MC, HOME) has his own variant of IE7 beta3. And Windows are compatible? After long long time updating Windows says I must restart Windows to accept new core files. When did I requested full sistem update? I had to restart PC to finish the setup.

After you reboot and run IE you can enable simple phising protection and you can contribute and help to M$. After first run I see tabs. That’s + They open’s as in Firefox. (Alt+t) Ufcorse first page opened with it was www.konzola.net and my blog at www.konzola.net/mitja where I see that fonts are messed up. Changed size or just other font? Huh I have enought for today. We’ll check this tomorrow.

No predno grem danes spat bom še naložil Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3. Tako, da me ne bo kdo obtoževal, da trdim da je zanič, probal ga pa še nisem. Že na začetku sem rahlo razočaran. Prvo razočaranje sledi, ko ni beta verzije v Slovenskem jeziku. Tudi drugih je zelo malo. Drugo razočaranje pa je microsoftova stran, ki takoj zahteva Geniune Validation. Super bom zgleda šou par minut kasnej spat

muBlinder je uspešno pretental Microsoft. Ali pa sem mogoče celo Genuine Validated? Kdo ve? in v bistvu “who cares” .exe datoteka je velika nekaj več kot 12MB. In kot ponavadi spet počasi vleče z Microsoftovih strani. Tudi nič novega.

Namestitev samega programa je tipično mikrosoftovska. Najprej razpakira vso zadevo, kot pri nalaganju SP2 ali slo lang packa, potem moraš sprejeti licenčna pravila. Pri naslednjem koraku pa PONOVNO preverja Genuine Validation. Hm zagotovo bo potem ko bo uradna verzija pri vsakem zagonu to preverjalo. Bad… Po uspešnem preizkusu validacije nas naprosi da potrdimo namestitev vseh varnostnih updatov. Da to je mikrošit, tko da bomo pustili da to nardi. Zanimivo je, da imajo za vsako verzijo Windowsov (SP1, SP2, MC, HOME) svojo različico IE7 beta3. Tolko o Windows kompatibilnosti. Med dolgotrajnim posodabljanjem mi sistem napiše, da mora biti zaradi posodobitev ponovno pognan. Ne spomnim se da bi prosil naj mi celoten sistem posodobi. Pa bo spet šel uptime. Ko sem zadevo namestil sem bil pozvan da moram ponovno reštartati sistem, da se namesitev dokonča. Bravo!

Po ponovnem zagonu imaš nastavitve, kjer lahko izbereš nekaj zaščite in pa seveda možnost podpori microsoftu. Takoj sem opazil tabe in odpirajo se isto kot pri Firefoxu. (Alt+t za neuke ) Takoj sem seveda odpru www.konzola.net in moj blog www.konzola.net/mitja kjer pa vidim da so fonti povečani/spremenjeni. Hm? Bom o tem še jutri razpravljal.

Ugotovili so, da so bili default soundi ki pridejo z windowsi, encodani s piratsko verzijo programa za obdelavo zvoka SoundForge. Microsoft na to še ni podal odgovora in ga verjetno ne bo. Njim verjetno ne bodo težile anti-piratske organizacije. Ali pač?

Več o tem si lahko preberete tukaj. Resda si Microsoft lahko veliko privošči, vendar kaj takega pa glede na to kako sam deluje proti piratom si ne bi smel.
